Join us on Thursday, February 23, 2023 at 6pm for an evening of historical expressions of Highland Park Whisky. We will be exploring the deep roots of true Vikings through perfectly balanced smoky peat and delicate honey flavors.
“Once a Viking, Always a Viking”
Founder, Magnus Eunson, was a direct Viking decent, one who embodies a rugged balance: he was a butcher and church officer by day and a smuggler by night. He set up his illicit still at a little bothy at High Park, overlooking Kirkwall – Sill the site of Highland Park today. They say that the distillery was founded in 1798, but in truth, that’s just the year the authorities finally caught up with Magnus and gave him the choice to start paying taxes or to go to jail. With the exception of the smuggling operation, very little has changed, they stay true to the standards of whisky making; in fact, some say that Highland Park Whisky is, “Whisky crafted in the old way by a new generation of Vikings”.
